Kathleen Susan Laurenzo

On Friday, July 26, 2019, Dr. Kathleen Laurenzo passed away at the age of 68 at Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL. Kathleen was born on December 9, 1950 in Fond du Lac, Wisconsin as the first child and only daughter of the late Lois (Carmichael) Turner and Richard Straw.
Kathleen received her Ph. D. from the University of Florida in 1987, and, after working as a research chemist for almost two decades, found her passion as an organic chemistry professor at FSCJ in Jacksonville, FL. Kathleen loved to read - her favorite book series was Outlander by Diana Gabaldon - and she had a particular fondness for Diet Coke.
In addition to her mother and father, Kathleen was preceded in death by her step-father, Neil Turner; younger brother, John Straw; step-sister, Kathleen Landry; two cats, Kitty and Kira, and one dog, Whinney. Kathleen is survived by her daughter, Jessica Straw; two younger brothers, Kenneth Straw and wife, Kathleen, of New York; and Gerald Straw and wife, Colleen, of Florida;
a step-brother, Richard Turner and wife, Paula, of West Virginia; as well as five nieces and nephews, and one cat, Kit.
