Kay Jardine Partridge, 82, of Clinton, MD, passed away peacefully on September 14th with her children by her side.
Kay was born on January 8th, 1940 to Walter and Thelma MacDonald in Greenville, ME. After moving to Chicago, IL, she graduated from J Sterling Morton East High School in 1958. She went on to study Physical Education at the University of Wisconsin.
After graduation, Kay accepted her first job as a teacher in Riverside, CA, kicking off a long career in physical education and as a tennis coach.
In 1962 she met Larry L. Partridge. They wed in 1963, moved to the Washington D.C. area, and went on to have four children, James, Stephanie, David and Michael.
Kay dedicated most of her years in the Washington D.C. area as a volunteer ambassador, coach and mentor teaching the game of tennis to local children. She founded and developed the tennis program within The Clinton Boys and Girls Club. She coached intramural teams and county teams through the National Junior Tennis League for Prince George's County from the mid 1970s - 1990. Kay fostered the love and respect of the sport for 100s of Clinton, Maryland's junior players. She took many of her players to numerous USTA events around the state of Maryland, Sectionals in Pennsylvania, and had teams play in the Nationals at the US Open Tennis Facility in Queens, NY. and even winning Nationals in Michigan. Kay leaves a long lasting legacy through her youth mentorship and coaching.
Along with her contribution to the youth of Clinton Maryland, Kay (along with her husband Larry) is an Honorary Member of the Emerald Society of the Washington D.C. Fire Department.
Kay is predeceased by her parents, her husband, Larry, her son, David and her brother, Alexander. She is survived by her sister, Shelba, her brother, Albert, three children; James (Ruth) Partridge, Stephanie (Judd) Nieman and Michael (Jacqueline) Partridge, her 4 grandchildren; Stephen, Brianna, Madeleine and Vivian and her 3 great grandchildren; Makayla, Carter and Ava.
Services will be held in Cheltenham, MD in January 2023. Date and Time TBA.
