Kristeen Nicole (Gillooly) Gonzalez passed away on May 17, 2020 following a lengthy battle with stage 4 lung cancer at the age of 41. Mrs. Gonzalez was born on May 19, 1978 to Joseph and the late Nancy Gillooly (Nunes) in Darby Pennsylvania. She grew up in Philly and New Jersey, graduated from Collingswood High School class of 1996 before spreading her wings and joining the U.S. Navy where she earned a Navy Achievement Medal during her 4 years before being honorably discharged. Kristeen moved south to Florida where she met her husband Nicholas Gonzalez through an online class at FSCJ. Kristeen and Nick graduated together from Florida State College of Jacksonville with a B.A. in Supervision and Management. Neither Kristeen nor Nicholas felt they were compatible with each other but God had other plans. Nick challenged Kristeen to attend any church just one time, don't expect God to be there, just show up. She took that challenge and the Holy Spirit came over her, tears flowed and the beginning of transformation from a caterpillar into a butterfly began. Kristeen gave her life to God, got baptized, constantly sent challenging questions to her Pastor, gave up her time serving at Christian Concerts, worked in the nursery, served in the youth group, sang in the choir, was on the prayer team, led a small group; you name it and Kristeen was ready to step up and serve. Even while battling cancer for almost 3 years, Kristeen didn't let her pain, inability to walk, stop her from praying for others and helping minister to them. Kristeen had the best smile that just melted your heart. The Bible verse that Kristeen lived by was Exodus 14:14 The Lord will fight for you, and you have only to be silent.
Kristeen was preceded in death by her mother Nancy Gillooly. Survivors include her father Joseph Gillooly, her brother Joey Gillooly and his wife Alberta of Philadelphia, brother Thomas Gillooly and his wife Lori of Collingswood, and sister Jennifer Gillooly of Collingswood, her husband Nicholas Gonzalez Sr., step son Nicholas Gonzalez Jr., step son William Gonzalez, step daughter Angelica Gonzalez; and the aunt of several nieces and nephews. Kristeen passed away peacefully at 2:50 pm at home.
