Leonid V. Shvets, 73, peacefully left our world on October 27, 2023 in Jacksonville, Florida. He was born in Novograd Volynskiy, Ukraine on September 16, 1950 to the late Vladimir A. Shvets and Fanya (Shamessman) Shvets.
At the early age of 15, Leonid began his long-standing career at an assembly plant in the Nazi-torn country of Ukraine. Though he was an excellent mechanic, his handiwork also extended to his musical abilities when he learned to play drums and began performing at weddings and events. Leonid's talents and quick wit eventually caught the eye of his future wife, Valentina (Stepura) Shvets, who lovingly raised two children together before their family immigrated to the United States in 1994.
Despite the struggles of such a momentous move, Leonid quickly embraced a new language, culture, and lifestyle in America. Here he welcomed three doting grandchildren and also went on to work as an aircraft technician at NAS Jax before retiring after 25 years.
Leonid, the most dependable and affectionate husband, father, and grandfather, is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years - Valentina, son Gennadiy Shvets, daughter Inna (Shvets) Sirotkin, granddaughters Sabrina Sirotkin-Budnik and Emily Sirotkin, grandson Samuel Sirotkin, brother Igor Shvets, and the many family and friends who surrounded him.
