Maria Luisa Cartaya

Maria Luisa Cartaya, “Marie”, known here in Middleburg, Florida passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 5th at the age of 94. Maria was born August 17, 1920 born in Havana, Cuba and while visiting Bronx, New York and a beauty contestant from Cuba on a tour of the United States she met Augustine and married immediately. Soon after, she had to two children, Josie and Arnie. Ten years later, she moved with her husband and children to Miami which she considered “home”. In 2007, she moved with her daughter’s family to live in Middleburg, Florida.
One of Maria’s favorite places was going to Middleburg Senior Center where she enjoyed friendship and loved playing Bingo. Maria was angelic in so many ways always with a smile on her face and she gave peace, love and joy to all around her including strangers. She will be greatly missed and forever in our hearts.
Survivors include daughter, (Josie), Son (Arnie), Son in-law, (Alex), Daughter in-law, (Maître), Granddaughters, (Crystal, Miranda), Grandsons (Shawn, Patrick), Great-grand children, (Chelsea, Gabriela, Joshua, Nathaniel), Great-daughter in-law (Sarah), Great-son in laws, (William).
Outside service and burial will be held on Friday, August 14th at 2:00pm at Graceland Memorial Park-North; 4420 SW 8 Street; Coral Gables, Florida 33134, 305-446-2922
