Maria D Ruiz, lovingly known by her family and friends as "Mariposa," passed away on April 26, 2024, in Jacksonville, Florida. She was born on May 14, 1969, to Lentulo Ruiz and Carmen Alicia Celis.
Maria leaves behind a legacy of love and laughter and will be dearly missed by her three children: Sofia Salloum Ruiz (spouse Andres Gimenez), Hannan Salloum Ruiz (spouse Michael Farrish), and the late Nataly Salloum Ruiz. She also leaves behind two beloved grandchildren.
Throughout her life, Maria worked as a lawyer in Colombia and Venezuela before retiring in 2009. She continued to write two books "Palabras" and "Palabras II, Reflexiona Mujer." Maria also won the "Silver Emerald Award" in 2015 and "Public Citizen of the Year 2020". Her dedication to her career was matched only by her devotion to her family and friends.
