Mario DeLeon, 72, was called to heaven on January 2, 2016 in his home in Jacksonville, Florida surrounded by his loved ones. Mario was born in Humacao, Puerto Rico on September 12, 1943. He moved to Brooklyn, New York in his early teens and then journeyed to Bethlehem, Pennsylvania with his mother and step-father. He would eventually settle in and call Bethlehem home. Mario made many friends along the way and was loved by many. Mario entered the logistics industry as a truck driver in the mid 60s. He would later retire from this line of work, while residing in Miami, Florida in 2000. He is predeceased by his mother, Felipa Almodovar (whom he loved dearly), his step-father Concepcion Almodovar and his father Pablo DeLeon. He is survived by his sisters, Judy and Yolanda Almodovar (Yoli) and brother, Wilberto Almodovar (Wilby), sons, Dean DeLeon (Deno), Steven DeLeon (Steve) and Mario Lee DeLeon (Lee), and daughters, Elizabeth DeLeon (Liz) and Rosemarie DeLeon (Roe Roe). He also leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He will be truly missed.
Mario’s last wish was to be laid to rest next to his mother, which we will honor. A memorial service will be held by the family at the Puerto-Rican Beneficial Society in Bethlehem to celebrate Mario’s life. Date and times for the above to be disclosed in the near future.
