Mark Terral Dixon, Sr., 57, went to be with our Lord on Tuesday, November 3, 2015. A Jacksonville native, born on January 13, 1958, he was the son of James Dixon and the late Evelyn (Weatherton) Dixon. He will be deeply missed by his beloved wife of 37 years, Sharon L. (Palmer) Dixon. Mark and Sharon married on January 19, 1978 and continued to live in Jacksonville enjoying many years of fun and friendship.
Mark went to Spring Park, Landon Jr. High and Englewood High School, then acquired his GED. In 2005 he retired after 25 years of police service for the UNF Police Department. He was a loving husband and devoted father, a truly dedicated individual and was passionate about the Florida Gators. He will be missed and fondly remembered by his friends, family, and all who knew him. He will be remembered for many many years to come, as he touched each person's heart and soul through laughter and good times in a way that is everlasting.
In addition to his wife Sharon, Mark’s family lagacies include his children; Mark Terral Dixon Jr., Matthew Dixon, both of Jacksonville, and step daughter Tammy (Palmer) Slifka of Des Moines, IA; four grandchildren of whom he was so proud; Jaden, Nevaeh, Alana, and Liam; sisters; Marsane Dixon Edgerton and Marcelle Dixon. His obituary will run in the FLorida Times Union on Wednesday, November 11th.
A visitation and funeral service are scheduled to take place on Saturday, November 14, 2015 from 10 am - noon in the Naugle Funeral Home Chapel. A graveside service will follow directly after at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville FL. If you would like to send flowers for the service, Mark’s favorite colors were blue and orange representing his favorite team, the Florida Gators.
Family and friends are cordially invited to a 3 pm Celebration of Life reception at the Dixon residence. All are welcome to celebrate and reminisce on Mark’s wonderful life. Guests are requested to please bring a covered dish to the celebration.
