McCracken
Martha Burroughs McCracken, 88,a resident of Jacksonville and a member of Lakewood Presbyterian Church for the past 61 years, went home to be with her Lord on Oct. 13, 2013. Martha was born in Tampa in 1925, graduated from Hillsborough High School, and worked in radio assembly for the B29 bomber during the War effort. She also joked she was the first office “boy” for the Tampa Tribune. Martha loved her family, her church, and her friends and was recognized in 2010 by the Fl. Times for her volunteer work with UCOM and Lakewood Presbyterian. She was preceded in death by her husband, Oscar J. McCracken, her brother, and parents. Her life is celebrated by those she leaves behind: her sons and their wives: Richard and wife Dee of Atlanta, Ken and his wife Donna of Tallahassee, her grandchildren, Lori Hager, Michael McCracken, and Patricia Dalton and three great grandchildren, Andrew, Charlotte and Lillian.
A family graveside ceremony will be held at Oak Lawn Cemetery followed by a memorial service at 11:00 on Oct. 17, at Lakewood Presbyterian Church with Rev. Terry Lucarelli officiating.
In lieu of flowers, Martha requested that donations be made in her name to United Community Outreach Ministry .
