Martin Joseph Mickler, 70, passed away Wednesday, March 23 after a long illness. Marty, a loving father and husband was born and raised in Jacksonville. He graduated from Bishop Kenny High School, The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, where he was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order, and Florida State University College of Law, where he was a member of Phi Delta Phi legal honor society. Marty was previously the president of The Young Lawyers Section of the Jacksonville Bar, served on several boards in town and was a past captain of Ye Mystic Revellers. He was an avid Tar Heel, Seminole and Jaguar fan. He also had a soft spot for animals in need of adoption, providing a home for many strays over the years. He is preceded in death by his parents, Lester and Gladys Mickler; his brother, Robert Mickler and in-laws, Walter and Catherine Callahan. Marty is survived by Lynn, his wife of 45 years and daughter, Jennifer. He is also survived by his brother, Mike (Geri); sisters-in-law, Maureen, Deborah Mather (John Middlebrook,); brother-in-law, Jeff Callahan (Jeanette); nephews, Michael, Peter, Bill, Jim, Bryan and Robert Mickler, Andrew and Richard Mather; nieces, Megan Ira and Catherine Callahan. A memorial service will take place Friday, April 8th at 2:00PM at Mandarin Presbyterian Church, West Campus. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Jacksonville Humane Society or Community Hospice.
