Mary Louise Danese,98, of Jacksonville, died on May 15, 2015. Her career began in Religious Life serving 34 years as a Sister of St. Joseph of St. Augustine, Fl. She received a B.A. Degree at St. Joseph College, Emmitsburg, MD and a Masters and Doctoral Degree at The Catholic University of America, Wash. D.C. Her first Mission as a religious was to O.L.P.H. High School, Ybor City, Tampa, where many prominent business men and women will remember her as Sister May Jerome,SSJ, a devoted teacher and friend. She taught as St. Joseph Academy,St. Augustine, Notre Dame Miami, and Bishop Kenny,Jacksonville. She served as Principal at Queen of Martyrs, Ft. Lauderdale and St. Charles,Orlando. She was academic Dean at St. Joseph College, Jensen Beach where under her direction, the College expanded from Novitiate to a Co-Ed Community College. After Laicization in 1969, she moved to New York continuing as educator for 10 years. Returning to Tampa, 1979, she worked for Isabelle Brown Realty and served St Mary's Church, N. Tampa as Eucharistic Minister and on the Parish Council. She is survived by two sisters, Rita Taylor and Lucille Rich, Jacksonville plus numerous nieces and nephews. Wake service will be Sunday May 17 at 6PM at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Avenue Jacksonville, Florida 32207.
