Mary Lavoro Krause passed away on May 16 following a brief illness.Mary was born in Alcamo, Italy on June 22, 1912. She came to America in 1914 and she grew up in Brooklyn, N.Y. She married Peter Lavoro on June 12, 1932. They moved to Jacksonviille, FL in 1952 and became members of Assumption Church. Mary sold Avon and later worked at the Vogue after her husband died, then she went on to complete her GED and worked for the Health Dept for 10 years. She was a member of the Assumption Choir and Guild, The Marybells, The Dingalings, Meals on Wheels, and the Prison Ministry. Mary was predeceased by her husbands, Peter Lavoro and Leon Krause. She is survived by her children, Judith Melcher, Geri Mickler (Mike), Peter Lavoro(Sonja), And Kathryn Franzen (Terry),grandchildren,Bruce Melcher (Ellen), Sharon Harmon (Terry), Michael J. Mickler (Karen), Peter L. Mickler (Julie), William H. Mickler (Marcella), James R. Mickler (Paula), Marie Lavoro, Jennifer Lavoro, Katie l. Castro, and Tim Wright (Carmen), and 21 great-grandchildren. A visitation will be held at Assumption Chapel on Tuesday, May 21 from 4 to 6 p.m. A funeral mass will be said in her honor On Wed, May 22, at 10 a.m. Lunch will follow in the church hall. Interment will be at 2 p.m. At Greenlawn Cemetery with Fr. Fred Parke officiating.
