Mary Whittle

Mary Ruth (Murphy) Hardee Whittle was 90 years old. She was born in Plant City moved to Jacksonville where she graduated from Robert E. Lee H.S. She met Jimmy shortly thereafter. She raised 4 sons and had 5 grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren with a 6th due any day now. The family moved to Philadelphia then back down to the Venice/Sarasota area until she moved back to Jacksonville to be grandmother to my brother Mark's kids. Mom was the type that when she walked into a room she took charge. All of our teachers wanted mom in their PTA. She was an avid member of Hendricks Ave. Baptist church and was known for coming to Weds night service with a car full of neighborhood kids. Murphy was very loving and would give you the shirt off her back but don't you dare play her in bridge because she always played to win. We will all miss her wit, humor and contagious smile. We miss you already mom and we will see you when we all get to heaven.
