Matilde Maceda Chapman January 15, 1947 January 5, 2018
It is with great sadness that the family of Matilde Maceda Chapman announces her passing on January 5th, 2018.
She is survived by her daughter Amanda Maceda and son-in law Antonio Pepe.
She leaves us behind a legacy of valor, strength, passion for life, abiding faith and love for God and unconditional acceptance of his will.
Diagnosed at very early age with a chronic lung disease she lived a full life, traveled the world and was never afraid to start over at any age. 10 years ago, her condition took a turn for the worst, she battled long and hard until her very last breath, and she exceeded by many years the life expectancy for her medical condition. She would pray each morning thanking God for allowing her another day of life and would pray and meditate each night for the blessings received, for those in need, her loved ones and the opportunity to have been allowed to share with them one more day.
She would always say one of her favorite quotes:
"A smile cost nothing. It takes but a moment and the memory of it sometimes lasts forever. None is so rich or mighty that he can get along without it, and none is so poor but that he can be made rich by it". --So when you think of her, simply smile back at her as she is in God's grace smiling right now.
She worked for many years as a pediatric nurse and was always involved in volunteering and charity work for children in need. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to children's charity of your choice.
Funeral Mass will be held on Thursday, January 25th at 10:00 AM at St. Matthew's Catholic Church, 1773 Blanding Blvd, Jacksonville, FL 32210 <
