Matthew David Aschenbach passed away in Jacksonville, Fl. on August 26, 2020. He was born in Jacksonville on September 24, 1981 to Edwin Joseph and Dale (Davis) Aschenbach.
Matt was a kind and giving person. If you've ever read the children's book, "The Giving Tree", that was who Matt was. He would make you laugh with his sarcastic sense of humor. He loved getting together with his friends and playing board games or video games. He loved sci-fi and having lightsaber fights. He was shy but knew how to have fun with the ones he cared about. He was very loved and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Thomas J. and Florene (Howell) Davis and Edwin H. and Joan (Sulleberger) Aschenbach. He was also preceded in death by his Aunt Carol (Oliver) Aschenbach and cousins Rebecca, Jessica and John Michael Aschenbach.
He's survived by his parents, his sister, Catherine (Aschenbach) Eldredge and brother, Thomas J. Aschenbach and his wife, Jamie. By his nephew, John Eldredge, Jr. and his fiance, Danniell. Great nephews, Gage and Landyn VanZant, great nieces Ava and Olivia Eldredge. By his niece, Rebecca (Eldredge) Hilliard (and Shaun Whitfield), and great nephew, Hayden Hilliard. By his niece, Elizabeth (Eldredge) and Robert King and great niece Arya King.
Matt is also survived by his 3 Uncles, John (Maria) Aschenbach, Steve (Wendy) Aschenbach, Walt (Nancy) Aschenbach. His cousins, Kelly Aschenbach, Kristin (Aschenbach) Kennedy, Pete Aschenbach, Rachel (Aschenbach) Cowley, Stephen Aschenbach, Andrea (Aschenbach) Macclemmy, Lisa (Aschenbach) Geery, Jim, Jeremy and Seth Aschenbach, Jason Aschenbach and Kari Aschenbach.
A memorial service was held Saturday, August 29, 2020.
