Maxwell Cameron Slama was born and raised in Jacksonville, Florida. Max passed away unexpectedly on Monday, March 23, 2020. He was 30 years old. Max was born on October 17, 1989 in Jacksonville, Florida, the son of Bradley and Dorothy (Hungerford) Slama. He attended and graduated from St. Petersburg High School in 2010.
His favorite pastimes included fishing, working with his hands, building things and playing with his niece and nephews. He had a wonderful heart and thrived on helping others. He was a renowned distributor of Swedish Fish, popsicles and ice cream sandwiches to his niece and nephews. He left behind millions of lizards to terrorize the world since he despised them so much as well as several unprotected ball-caps and 12 pairs of earbuds that the nephews and niece will undoubtedly find and "adversely possess". He never met a stranger and somehow seemed to know the name and life story of every convenience store clerk in a 15-mile radius. He was the go-to for whenever we needed to move, and we have no idea how we will ever move again. Throughout his life and many occupations, he managed to accumulate at least 782 spare parts, or PLO's, as his late father would call them.
Max was predeceased by his father, Bradley Slama and countless "scrap cars" that he was going to fix and drive, many of which left their marks on our driveways and added to his PLO pile. He is survived by his mother Dorothy Slama; his brother Bradley Barrell (Eva); his sister Amanda Lovins (Justin), despite the fact that they looked at his food; his grandmother Dorothy DePiazza; four nieces and nephews, Claire, Lucas, Cameron and Landon; and a host of aunts, uncles and friends.

It is with a heavy heart that we have decided to postpone Max's memorial to a later date due to the advice of many professionals regarding the corona virus and the love and concern we have for all of you.
We feel this decision is in the best interest of everyone involved. When we do reschedule, we hope to see all of your beautiful faces, hear any of the stories you'd like to share, give and receive real hugs and celebrate Max's life properly. Please share any love and stories you wish on our dedicated page. We will keep you posted, and we ask that in lieu of flowers, you make a donation to the Bradley J. Slama UNF Walking Challenge, created in memory of his father. Max loved his father and was proud to have a walking challenge named in his honor. To donate and learn more, visit the page here:
