Melva Jean Johnson Wright

Melva “Melva Jean” Johnson Wright, 75, passed away surrounded by love at home September 30, 2016 after her short term battle with ALS. She was born October 14, 1940 in Jacksonville, FL to parents Ola Mae Jenkins and Harold Robert Johnson. After graduating in 1958 from Paxon High School, she married and traveled around for a few years landing in Orange Park. After several years, and some life changes she then transformed herself into independent mother living and working in Jacksonville. Many years with Independent Life and then the companies that came after, mom remained in the same downtown building until retirement. She then had the time to enjoy her yard and gardens, her family, the beach, film and television, and most importantly her cats, Sammy and Harry. Melva is survived by daughters Nicole Prescott, husband James Prescott, and Rhonda Lynn Zavatone, husband Fred Zavatone. Grandchildren Spencer Baldwin and Chloe Prescott by Nicole and Katherine Adams by Lynn. Great grandchildren Violet Baldwin, Joey and Aiden Adams. Brother Harold Johnson, wife Mary Ann Johnson. Niece Shannon Johnson Thomas. Predeceased by nephew Scott Johnson. A celebration of life memorial will be held Friday October 21, from 10am till 12pm. Family will gather at 9am.
