In Loving Memory of John Michael Benson
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of John Michael Benson.
A man of remarkable passion for life and the great outdoors. Michael, who was 55 years old, departed from this world on September 22. 2023, leaving behind a legacy of cherished memories and a deep love for family, friends and his dog Lucky.
Born on November 3. 1967, Michael was a free spirit who found his true calling amidst the waters and the serenity of nature. He had an unquenchable love for fresh water and off-shore fishing. His heart was at home on the river and in the Keys, where he found solace and tranquility. Mike's adventures on the water with Tom, John and all of his best friends were a testament to his unwavering spirit and his ability to find beauty in the simplicity of life.
While Michael may not have had a wife or children, he was far from alone in this world. He had a wide circle of friends, family and kindred spirits who shared in his love for the outdoors. Mike's infectious smile, enthusiasm, warm camaraderie, and the countless stories he shared endeared him to all who had the privilege of knowing him.
In his memory, let us remember Michael as a man who embraced life fully, finding joy in the freedom of the open water and the beauty of nature's wonders. He loved travelling and had a fantastic trip to Denmark and Berlin with his Brother in law, Mother, Sister and his family who live in Denmark
He leaves behind a void in our hearts, but also a legacy of living life to the fullest.
A memorial gathering to celebrate Michaels's life will be held Saturday September 30'th 11 am at Naugle funeral home, 1203 Hendricks Ave, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
The celebration of life will be held directly following at the home of Daren & Jamie Jaffe 12840 Micanopy Lane, Jacksonville, FL 32223.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to American heart association in honor of John Michael Benson.
Although Michael may have embarked on his final voyage, his love for the waters and the memories he created will forever flow through our hearts. May he rest in eternal peace.
John Michael Benson was preceded in death by his Father John Fred Benson, Uncle Doyce leon Walker, and Uncle Kenneth Lloyd Walker and cousin Jason Daniel Walker.
He was survived by Mother Linda Gayle Benson, Sister Kathryn Denise Tauning and husband Jesper Tauning, Uncle Robert Eugene Walker, Aunt Patricia Ann Walker, Aunt Evelyn Ruth Tyler, Aunt Ellen Edgar Walker, cousins Robert Steven Walker (Rockwell Steven Walker, Meagan Lake Walker), Barbara Diane Walker (Jack Walker Jones, Ella Kathryn Walker), Robert Keith Young, Kevin Scott Young, Jeff Bryant and Lesa Benefield.
