Morris Correll Lewis, Jr. went peacefully to be with our Lord and Savior on Friday, September 18, 2015. He was born at Walter Reed Army Hospital in Washington, D.C. on July 14, 1942 to Morris C. Lewis, Sr. and Mary W. Lewis. Morris graduated from Senatobia High School in 1960, and continued his education at Jones College in Jacksonville, FL, earning Bachelors of Science degrees in Computer Science/Accounting and Data Processing. Morris served in the U.S. Navy as a Chief Petty Officer/Gunners Mate before retiring after 20 years. He served our country through the Vietnam War, the first Gulf War, and has received the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Expert Rifleman Medal Second Award, Expert Pistol Shot Medal Third Award, Combat Action Ribbon, and Battle āEā Ribbon. After serving in the Navy he went on to work with the Department of Defense, and in 1982 while working at FMC in Minneapolis, MN, he wrote a book for the U.S. Congress. Morris also retired from Southeast Regional Maintenance Center in Mayport, FL in 2007 and spent time serving as Head Deacon of Friendship Baptist Church in Anoka, MN. Morris is preceded in death by his father Morris C. Lewis, Sr., his mother Mary, and sister Caroline Brownlee of Senatobia, MS. Morris is survived by Linda, his loving wife of 53 years; his precious daughters, Monica (Eric) Redman, and Stephanie (Sean) Hauser; grandchildren, Shane Robert Harris (great-grandson Samuel John and future great-grandson), Emily Ann Harris (future great-grand child), Kaleb Lewis Riggs, Jonathan Harold Hauser; brothers, Eddie (Judy) Lewis of Olive Branch, MS, Aaron (Ruby) Lewis of College Station, TX; sister Nancy Dodson of Pearl, MS; and many nieces, nephews, and friends who loved him and will miss him tremendously. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Crown Point Baptist Church in Jacksonville, FL. A memorial service is to be held at a later date, as Chief Lewis will be buried at sea by the U.S. Navy.
