It is with great sorrow that we write to announce the passing of a most beautiful soul, Olga Mendivil Bertozzi. Olga's life began in Lima, Peru on August 13,1939. She immigrated to the US in 1965 and came to reside in Jacksonville in 1973. She passed away on January 10, 2022 of natural causes.
Throughout her 82 years, she lived a life of service in the Catholic Church and was involved in numerous ministries including RCIA, Eucharistic Ministry, the South Jacksonville Deanery, the Diocesan Council of Catholic Women, the National Council of Catholic Women, Respite Care and the nondemoninational ministry of Meals on Wheels. A true disciple of Christ, she exemplified the virtues of patience, kindness, resilience, and joy in the face of adversity. Her unwavering faith in and devotion to Christ Jesus both supported and strengthened her soul which we know now rests in peace in God's heavenly Kingdom. She left an indelible mark all on all she touched throughout her life, most notably her children and grandchildren.
Olga is survived by her three children Giancarlo Bertozzi (Lori Bertozzi), Gianfranco Bertozzi (Karin Bertozzi), and Olga Walker (Mark Walker); her eleven grandchildren, Nicholas, Matthew, Alexander, Luca, Gabriella, Sophia, Elizabeth, Jack, Cameron, Max and Henry; her brother, Alfredo Mendivil; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Please join us in celebrating her beautiful life with a bilingual, memorial mass at 10AM Friday, February 11, 2022 at San Jose Catholic Church, 3619 Toledo Road, Jacksonville, FL 32217. A livestream link through YouTube is available for those who are unable to attend the in-person service.
