On Sunday, October 25, 2020, Pamela Ouellette, loving wife, mother to 4 children, and Meme to seven grandchildren, passed away at the age of 68 from a well-worn heart that loved so much.
She was born in Horse Cave, Kentucky and was raised in Louisville where she met her loving husband, Dennis of 39 years on a blind date at the Kentucky State Fair. They were engaged three days later and married only three months after that first date. They raised their four kiddos, John, Dennis, Nicole, and Karen in New Hampshire, Illinois, and finally settling in Florida. For well over 20 years Pamela had a dedicated career with Citiwide Financial where Jim and crew were a second family and many customers cherished friends.
Meme was the epitome of selfless kindness and love and was always known for putting the needs of others ahead of her own. That kindness was directed towards family which she loved fiercely and with every ounce of her being, friends, as well as to total strangers. She had an infectiously positive attitude, and when asked what they will remember most, her grandchildren recalled some advice they would hear from her encouraging them to look for the best in situations, "Change your reaction to things", "Rewind your scenarios", and to always reach for the stars. They also remember her as super smart, the hardest worker, and a night owl always ready to have fun. It was not uncommon for her to randomly stop with the grandkids for Krispy Kreme or a carnival or to gather the family for a late-night pancake fix at IHOP. She just loved everyone being together and could make anyplace feel like home.
Pamela will be reunited in Heaven with her parents, Ruby and Milton Short, her beloved husband, Dennis Ouellette, siblings, Tony Short, Mike Short, Dale Short, and Janice Short as well as many other loving family members and dear friends. There will surely be a celebration up there this week! She is survived by her four children and their loving spouses, John and Jessica Ouellette, Dennis Ouellette, Nicole and Sean Chambers, and Karen and John Flannagan, her cherished grandchildren, Katy Ouellette, Ally Ouellette, Johnny Flannagan, Taylor Ouellette, Kylee Flannagan, Zachary Ouellette, and Ruby Flannagan, as well as her sister, Rosemary Martin, her brother, Jerry Short and many loved nieces and nephews.
Our mother often told us, "when I leave you, please do not cry, please focus on the good times and memories, and celebrate with great music." We request all that know and love her, to hug your loved ones, do something kind for someone in need, celebrate the everyday with a good cup of coffee in a favorite mug, and to always put kindness above all else.
A final picture: Meme would always walk family out to their cars to hug them one last time; she would give the largest smile and wave as they drove away. She closed every conversation with her loving children and grandchildren with a reminder, "I'll love you forever."
