Patricia Coleen Cook Hayes "Midge" returned to her heavenly home on June 8, 2019 at the age of 85. Her firm belief in God supported her struggle during an extended illness and ultimately gave her peace.
Mrs. Hayes was born on March 10, 1935 to Hartwell and Daisy Cook in Jacksonville, FL. During her adult life, she lived in several states including Florida, Maine, and Georgia. Eventually, retiring to Waycross Georgia.
Mrs. Hayes is preceded in death by her husband, L.C. Hayes, her mother and father, 4 brothers Howard, Wallace, Biney, ad Spud and 2 sisters Geraldine Newman and Amelia Yarborough. Survivors include her 2 sons, Shane Hayes and his wife Jeanne, and Gregory Hayes and his wife Debi; her foster son, Billy York; 8 grandchildren, Leslie Moore and her husband Walter, Timothy Hayes, Christie Hayes, Nickie Muzafarov, Michelle Hitchcock and her husband Shane, Michael Hayes and his finance Cherish, Christopher Goodwin and his wife Sara, and Cory Hayes; along with 17 great-grandchildren, Tristan Willis, Isaac Willis, Alexander Muzafarov, Destiny Padgett, Bryant Padgett, Haley Turner, Cory Hayes Jr., Hayden Hitchcock, Aleah Moore, Brody Hayes, Alex Hayes, Levi Hayes, Graham Goodwin, Wesley Moore, Grayson Goodwin, Zachary Goodwin and Austin Goodwin; and 4 nieces and 4 nephews.
Patricia Cook Hayes was a beloved mother, foster mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, aunt and friend who touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed. She will be remembered for her love of gardening, and animals, but also for her sassy personality and the love she had for her family.
A memorial service will be held on Thursday, June 13th, beginning with family visitation at 10:30 am, followed by the service at 11:00 am, at Wayside Assembly of God, 10440 New Kings Road, Jacksonville, Fl 32219. Reverend Wade Mask Sr. will officiate the service with music provided by Mike and Dana Hammontree. A reception will follow the service. Family and friends are welcome to attend and celebrate Patricia's life.
