Patrick Nathaniel Heinold, age 17, was called home to be with Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior, on February 4, 2017. Patrick was a friend to many and loved by all. He is survived by his parents Kristin and Hank of Jacksonville, FL; his sister Paige whom he adored; grandparents June and Kenneth Scheurer of Jacksonville, FL, George and Phyllis Heinold of St. Augustine, FL; aunts Kerry Briggs (John) of Barrington, IL, Jen Scheurer (Steve Carnegie) of Portland OR, and Michele Heinold (Dale Edgar) of Carmel, IN; uncles Mark Heinold (Theresa) of Santa Clara, CA, and Craig Heinold (Rachael) of Bonney Lake, WA; cousins Andrew, Aaron, Elise, Elliott and Matthew.
Born in Mountain View, CA, Patrick moved with his family to Jacksonville in 2002. He began attending the Bolles School in Kindergarten where his infectious smile, humor, and kindness touched the lives of his many friends, teammates, coaches and faculty he encountered there. Patrick earned the Arrow of Light as a Cub Scout and was a member of Boy Scout Troop 473 at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church. A natural musician, Patrick began playing the piano at age six. He was a member of the Bolles concert and jazz bands where he played trumpet and most recently, the French horn. Children of all ages loved Patrick. He spent his summer months volunteering at the Bolles Day Camp and was selected to be a member of the Junior Mentor program. He was passionate about sports and played on many teams from his early years. One of his favorite past times was talking hockey with his Papa. At the Bolles School, he swam competitively for the Bolles Sharks, rowed on the crew team, played football and lacrosse. Patrick’s greatest joy was on the basketball court. He was a proud member of the Bolles Varsity 4A State Championship team in 2016 and was selected as Varsity Co-Captain for the 2016-2017 season. Patrick was a First and Second honors student and was looking to study Engineering in college. Above all, Patrick was a Christ follower. He was a member of Christ’s Church and served as a volunteer on the parking ministry. He participated in the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Jacksonville Young Life. His love for Christ was shared weekly with his Campaigner brothers and declared his week at Young Life summer camp in Lake Champion, NY as “the best week of my life”. Patrick will be greatly missed by all who knew him. This gentle giant was a “shining star” and will always be remembered for his happy smile, friendship, and readiness to lend a helping hand. We are all proud to call him son, grandson, and friend.
A celebration of Patrick’s life will be held Saturday, February 11th, 2017 at 10:00 a.m in the Bolles School, Davis Gym.
