Paul Dean Campbell went to his heavenly home on Saturday, September 28, 2024. He
was affectionately known as "Papa" to his family and lived a long and wonderful life. He
was born on June 25, 1930 in Bellwood, Pennsylvania to his loving parents, Herman
and Alice Campbell. He was one of 11 children who grew up together in their Bellwood
family home who faithfully served their community and their country. He married June
Carol Knight on May 18, 1960. Paul and June would build a marriage that lasted over
64 years.
Paul was a hardworking man who loved spending his time hunting, fishing, and in the
outdoors, but mostly dedicated his life to God, his family, and his country. He was a
veteran of the US Air Force, serving over 23 years. Throughout his service he was
awarded and received many medals for his sharp shooting skills and dedicated service
to his country. He served in many countries including Germany, Italy and the wars in
Thailand and Vietnam.
After his time in the Air Force, he worked for Southern Bell (AT&T) as an electrician and
telephone line repairman until his retirement. He was often recognized for his dedication
to the company and hard work ethic. Anyone who knew Paul, understood he set the
tone for hard work wherever he went.
Most of all, Paul was known as a compassionate, soft hearted, loving, and caring
husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather. He was not a man of many words,
but he set the example of faith and dedication to his family through his actions. He was
a true "Patriarch" whose mission was to lead his family to a close relationship with our
heavenly Father. His hands were rough from his hard work, but tender to all he touched.
He was a carpenter in his youth and exemplified the Great Carpenter in many ways.
Paul is preceded in death by his loving parents, Herman and Alice Campbell; his
brothers, Don and Dick; and sisters, Dot, Lorraine, and Debbie. He is survived by his
wife, June; his son, Alan Dean, and daughter-in-law Michelle; his daughter, Carol Lynn,
and son-in-law, John Doolittle; his grandchildren, Laura Helms (Derek), Alan Campbell
Jr (Kim), Alica White (Nathan), Courtney Reasor (Brandon), Jacob Doolittle (MaKayla),
Joel, Hannah and Andrew; his great grandchildren, Brooks, Hunter, Baylen, Katherine,
Bennett, Caroline, Addison, Piper, and Olive; his brothers, John and Kenton; his sisters,
Jane, Ruth and Arlene.
He is also survived by countless other family members who would often fight over who
would be the recipient of his famous apple pies, jams, friendship breads, cinnamon rolls
and apple butter.
Dad, you will be missed immensely. You were the shining example of Christ likeness for
your family. You were always there for us and someone we knew we could count on.
Living without you will be the hardest part of all. We have so many special memories to
think back on and will hold you in our hearts forever.
