Frederick Crawford Witt and Paula Ruth DeLander Witt unexpectedly passed away on Monday January 22, 2024 in Jacksonville, Florida. Frederick was born December 31, 1944 to Frederick Oliver Witt and Muriel Louise Witt. Paula was born August 20, 1945 to Paul Arthur DeLander and Barbara May DeLander. Both Fred and Paula attended Forrest High School and graduated in 1963. They were married April 2, 1966 for 57 years.
They are survived by their two children, David DeLander Witt and his wife, Melody Song Byrd and Kathryn Marie Martin and her husband, Dale Edward Martin of Jacksonville, Florida, their three grandchildren, Nathan Edward Martin, Georgia Elizabeth Witt and Evelyn Grace Witt, and Paula's three sisters, Nancy Lee Beecher, Carol Jane Baker and Barbara Jean Morgan and her husband, Douglas Garner Morgan.
Fred and Paula both worked at Wachovia Bank, formerly known as Atlantic Bank, then First Union Bank. Fred also served in the US Navy for a few years and he also worked at KMart. Once they both retired from Wachovia, Fred worked for Harpoon Louie's, now simply known as Harps for 20 years. Paula went on to work for the Cummer Art Gallery and for Sweet Pete's Candy.
Fred was always a diehard Florida Gators fan and he loved his family. Paula also enjoyed spending time with her family and enjoyed her church community and music. She sang in the choir for several years.
Fred and Paula loved life and never met a stranger. We will miss them dearly. There will be a memorial service on February 19, 2024 at Lakeshore Family Fellowship, 2246 Blanding Blvd Jacksonville, FL 32210 at 10:00am. There will be a reception immediately after the service at Harps, 4070 Herschel St, Jacksonville, FL 32210 to celebrate their lives.
