Ray S. Kesling, 80, of Jacksonville, FL, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, December 20, 2017 at St. Vincent's Medical Center Hospice Riverside.
He was born August 4, 1937 in Elkins, WV to the late Lyda Denzil and Martha Josephine Kesling. He was married 45 years to the late Jeanette Rose Kesling.
He retired from CSX Railroad in January of 2000. A member of the American Legion, Jacksonville Memorial Post 88, he was very active in Veteran's Affairs and held various Vice Commander positions at the Post. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast and was the past Road Captain for the American Legion Riders, Chapter 88. He was also a Life Time Member of the ALR.
Surviving are a grandson, Cody Kesling of Jacksonville, FL; a stepson, Roy (Denny) Rose of Jacksonville, FL; a sister, Nola McBroom of Hurdle Mills, NC. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Vicki Kesling; two brothers, Carl Kesling and Leo Kesling; and a sister, Twila Vanscoy.
A graveside service will be held Saturday, February 10th at 11:30am at Greenlawn Cemetery, 4300 Beach Blvd, Jacksonville. In lieu of flowers, the family encourages memorial contributions be sent to American Legion, Jacksonville Memorial Post 88, 3662 Spring Park Rd, Jacksonville, FL 32207 or to Baptist Children's Home, Jacksonville Campus, 2300 Bartram Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
