Robert Joseph Shannon, 59, of Melbourne, Florida, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side on Tuesday, February 4, 2020. He was born on June 25, 1960, in Saint Louis, Missouri.
Bob was a kind-hearted and loving man who was known for his sense of humor. Bob was an avid University of Arkansas Razorback fan. He rarely missed a Razorback football or basketball game on television. He frequently scared his beloved dogs with his loud cheers during the games.
Bob fought a brave battle for years with heart failure and kidney failure. Although it was his desire to go home to Melbourne, he lost his battle at the Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida.
Bob is survived by his wife, Rebecca Shannon, his daughter, Tanya Shannon his son, Michael Shannon, his stepson Matthew Brown (Ashley), his stepson Christopher Brown and his grandson Oliver Brown. Bob was from a large family which included four brothers and three sisters. He is survived by brother Michael Shannon (Marilyn), brother James Shannon (Michele), brother John Shannon (Diana), sister Mary Shaw (Michael), sister Patricia Shannon (Tommy) and sister Catie VanDyne (Mark).
He was preceded by his father Lawrence Shannon, mother Gay Shannon and brother Thomas Shannon.
A memorial will be held in Robert and Rebecca's home in Melbourne, Florida on Saturday, March 7, 2020 from 1 - 3 p.m.
