Robert Michael York
September 2, 1950 — April 4, 2017
Robert Michael York passed away on April 4, 2017 at home surrounded by his loving family. He was the husband of Lise Haertel York. They shared 44 years of marriage together.
Born in Patuxent River, MD, Mike was the son of Bernard York and Ruth Johnson. Mike received his Associates degree in electronics before joining the Navy in 1970. The majority of Mike's career was in the Navy where he rose to the rank of Master Chief, retiring in 1993.
Mike was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and also had a great interest in The All Things New ministry and orphanage in Haiti. He enjoyed Nascar and fishing with family and friends. Most of all he enjoyed being a dad and grandfather, and spending time with his family. There were no strangers in Mike's world, only friends and people he had yet to meet. Mike was best known for being a great conversationalist.
Mike is survived by his wife, Lise, children Steven, Carol, James, and Gregory, and grandson Brandon, and brother Dana. He is also survived by cherished nieces, nephews, cousins, family members and treasured friends. He is predeceased by his sister Patricia Rankin.
The visitation will be on April 11, 2017 from 7 to 9 pm at Naugle Funeral Home. The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, April 12, 2017, 10 am, at Trinity Lutheran Church. The interment will follow at Jacksonville National Cemetery at 1 pm.
