Roslyn Boushee Henderson, 29, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, January 24, 2016, from injuries sustained in a car accident. She was born on March 25, 1986, in Jacksonville, Florida, where she lived her entire life. She is survived by her parents, Roslyn and Tim Volpe, and Alan Henderson; three sisters, Kaye Henderson Stegink (Tim), Leigh Volpe, and Allie Henderson; a brother, Josh Volpe (Tara); and two nephews, Ryker Volpe and Blanton Stegink.
Roslyn, who attended John Stockton Elementary School and St. Johns Country Day School, graduated from Episcopal High School in 2004. In the fall of that year, she entered the University of Florida, where she earned a bachelor of arts in psychology in 2008. She then entered the University of Florida College of Law, graduated with a juris doctorate in 2011, and was admitted to The Florida Bar in 2012.
Rather than practice law, however, Roslyn chose to pursue her lifelong passion for animals and her desire to serve others by preparing for a career training service dogs. She mentored under one of the country’s top police and military dog trainers for three years, and worked with hundreds of dogs while teaching Police K9 for two Florida police departments. After working as the lead trainer at K9 for Warriors in Ponte Vedra Beach, Roslyn opened her own business for the training of both personal and service dogs for a variety of clients, including wounded soldiers, people with special medical or emotional needs, emergency response departments throughout the state, and people desiring personal protection or well-trained pets.
At an early age, Roslyn also displayed a love for horses. From second grade through college, she owned two horses and won several competition awards, including the 4H State Champion Dressage and Equitation Award.
Roslyn was predeceased by grandparents Clelia and Ray Bullard, Betty Henderson, Patty Volpe, and Harold Plummer; great aunts and uncles Betty Boushee, F. M. Bullard, Burton and Jean Bullard, Carl and Betty Jo Bullard, Tim and Martha McCarthy; and a cousin, Charlie Volpe. In addition to her immediate family, she is survived by her grandfather, Kaye N. Henderson; two great aunts, Marion Bullard and Kathy Ames (Mark); a great uncle, Frank Boushee; and several aunts and uncles: Clelia Davis, Britt Bullard Pease (Rick), Molly McRae (Jesse), David Henderson (Karen), Helen Jones (Mike), Chuck Volpe, Sebby Volpe (Stacy), Patty Helsel (Keith), Cathy Steed (Brad), Scott Plummer, and Jennifer Malpass (Glenn).
