Sharon Lynn (Toner) Taormina, wife of Peter J. Taormina, departed this physical life to enter into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Sunday, January 29, at her home in Jacksonville, FL. She was 50 years old. Sharon was born on May 8, 1972 in Plantation, Florida to Michael F. Toner and Patricia (Asleson) Toner. She attended elementary school in Hollywood, Florida and Atlanta, Georgia and graduated from North Springs High School in Sandy Springs, Georgia in 1992. She graduated with a B.A. Degree from Georgia State University in Atlanta in 1997. She married Peter J. Taormina in 1999, and she worked at the University of Georgia and Clayton College and State University while he completed his graduate degrees.

Throughout her adult life Sharon played a supportive role in a wide range of church and community activities wherever the family lived - in the Cincinnati, Ohio area, the Atlanta area, and Jacksonville, where the family settled in 2019. As a child with parents who enjoyed family travel, Sharon formed a knack for making friends quickly at each campground, which became a delightful feature of her personality to the betterment of those around her.

Sharon was an active homemaker and dedicated advocate of home schooling. Although the education of her children was always her paramount priority, she still found time to enjoy bicycling, skiing, hiking, tennis, gardening, cooking, photography, and a household that was always home to a pet or so. In addition to their schooling, she encouraged her children to participate in a range of extracurricular sports as diverse as ballet and indoor rock climbing.

Sharon was preceded in death by her mother, Patricia (Asleson) Toner and her mother-in-law Anna Laura (Rordam) Taormina. She is survived by her father, Michael F. Toner, of Atlanta, Ga.; by her husband Peter J. Taormina; by her children, Laura Patricia Taormina, 19, Aaron Joseph Taormina, 17, and Andrew Michael Taormina, 7; by her sister, Susan (Toner-Brown) Francis, and by three nieces and nephews, Stephanie Meredith Brown, 22, Jared Michael Brown, 25, and Garrett Marshall Brown, 27.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 4th at 1PM at Grace Community Church in Jacksonville. ( < https://www.gracejax.org/ > )
