Sharon Gail (Calliham) Timmerman, 72, entered fully into the presence of her Lord and Savior on July 30,2024, after a brief illness. Sharon was born on November 27, 1951, in Augusta, Ga., to the late J.P. Calliham and the late Elizabeth (Buffington) Calliham. Sharon graduated from Strom Thurmond High School, then attended Mary Baldwin College in Staunton, Va., where she earned a degree in elementary education. She later received her master's degree in education from the University of South Carolina in Columbia.
Sharon relocated to Myrtle Beach, S.C. in 1973 with her husband, the late Richard Timmerman. They were devoted members of Ocean View Baptist Church. Sharon had a passion for educating and shaping young minds, spending 28 years on the faculty of Myrtle Beach Primary School. She late transitioned into a district role, where she trained educators in the Reading Recovery Program, making a significant impact on countless lives on the Grand Strand. Additionally, she served as an adjunct professor at Clemson University.
Sharon enjoyed reading across various genres and made daily Bible study a priority. She also loved shopping, holiday decorating, and spending time with friends. However, nothing brought her more joy than being "Nana" to her cherished granddaughters, Hannah (17) and Heather (13). In 2020, she relocated to Jacksonville, Fla. to be closer to her favorite girls. There, she found another loving worship community in Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church, where many members of the congregation and her Sunday School group surrounded and comforted her during her final days. Sharon leaves behind to cherish her memory her son, Chris Timmerman, and his wife Dyan (Corey) Timmerman, along with the previously mentioned granddaughters all of Jacksonville, Fla. She is also survived by her brother, Bob Calliham, and his wife, Flo, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., as well as her adored nephew, Justin, his wife Sheena, and their children Reagan (11) and Beau (7) of Highlands Ranch, Colo.
A memorial service will be held at Hendricks Avenue Baptist Church on Saturday, August 17, at 4 p.m.
