Stanley Burrell went to be with his Lord and Savior, surrounded by his family in Jacksonville, Florida on October 25th, 2015 at the age of 61. Stanley is survived by his wife, Lydia; his sons, Brandon and Brock; his daughters-in-law Jessica and Melissa; and his granddaughters, Callista and Zoey. He will be missed by his loving family and friends.

Stanley Burrell was born on July 17th, 1954 in Hamtramck, Michigan to Herman Burrell and Evelyn Taylor-Waiters. He spent his childhood in Detroit, Michigan in a close-knit family of loving siblings: his brother Herman, sister Betty (Philips), twin brother Steven, sister Toni, brother Sherman, sister Gail (Mauthe), and sister Jill (Waiters). Stanley patriotically served his country for over 20 years in the United States Navy as a Dental Technician, rising quickly through the ranks and retiring as a Chief Petty Officer. Stanley’s dedication to duty won the respect of those around him, and his hard work was rewarded with numerous accolades - among them the esteemed Navy Commendation medal, multiple Navy Achievement medals, letters of appreciation from commanding officers, and many individual and unit commendation awards.

After retirement from the United States Navy, Stanley and his family stayed in the Jacksonville area where he worked in the dental supply industry, ultimately forming his own company. A lifelong learner, Stanley continued his education over the next several years earning a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and Management from the Davis College of Business at Jacksonville University, a commercial truck driving licensure, numerous computer and administrative course diplomas, and a Human Resources Certification from the Society for Human Resource Management. Always active in his community, Stanley earned his teaching certification and taught as an Intervention Specialist for the Duval County School Board.

Stanley valued his family and community above his many professional successes. Stanley made time to coach his sons’ basketball and baseball teams and actively volunteered in the many communities he lived. Stanley’s legacy is one of incredible love for God, his family, and his country.

In honor of Stan’s life, we will bid Stanley fair winds and following seas at a memorial service scheduled for Friday, October 30th, 2015 at 11:00 am at Deermeadows Baptist Church, 9780 Baymeadows Road, Jacksonville, Florida, 32256 (904-642-2200).
