It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Steven Michael Howe, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather. Steven was born on February 14, 1953, in Rapid City, South Dakota, to Henry Howe and Julane Opitz. He grew up in Rapid City, where he attended Rapid City High School and later proudly served in the US Navy for 23 years.
In 1975, Steven married the love of his life, Anna Balourdou, in a beautiful ceremony in Glyfada, Greece. This union blessed them with two children, Fay Trina Howe and Adam Henry Howe.
Steven's distinguished military career earned him several accolades, including medals for Surface Warfare and Recruiter of the Year. After retiring from the Navy in 1994, Steven pursued his passion for craftsmanship. He founded his own business, initially starting in a garage and later expanding into a fully owned building. Specializing in furniture repair, refurbishment, and restoration, Steven's meticulous work and attention to detail turned every project into a work of art. He also took joy in fulfilling custom building requests, bringing clients' visions to life.
On January 21, 2024, a Sunday, Steven peacefully passed away at St. Vincent's Hospital. He is preceded in death by his older sisters Stella Korpela, Barbara Lester, and Brother Michael Howe. Steven is survived by his devoted wife Anna, his daughter Fay Trina Howe, his son Adam Henry Howe, and his grandsons Steven Rodgers and Raymond Alexander Howe. His loving cats, Max and Locki, were also cherished members of his family.
