Taylor McKenzie Souder, of Jacksonville, FL passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at the tender age of 16, after a rapid onset illness.
Taylor was born on August 14, 2002 in Jacksonville, FL and lived in the same house for her entire life. She was a student at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts, where she studied cinematic arts. Her dream in life was to become an animator working for Disney. She preferred the old-style drawing of animation and Japanese Anime' as opposed to the computer-generated animation. She would spend hours drawing and writing stories for her drawings. Taylor was a girl scout and really enjoyed the outdoors, especially in the evening hours. Anytime there was a meteor shower, she and her dad would be looking to sky for hours on end. Taylor also enjoying fencing as her sport of choice. That may be why she was so drawn to the Star Wars franchise with the light saber battles. She would say that she liked the dark-side, but deep down inside her was a purity and grace that we should all be pulled towards, the light-side. When you were Taylor's friend, there was no one more loyal to that friendship than Taylor. The family hopes that Taylor's life-long friends Chyna, Christian, and Grace will carry Taylor's light with them always. Taylor always saw the good in people. She always wanted to help people. When it was mentioned that she was going to need a lung transplant, her immediate reaction was concern for the family of the person whose lungs she was going to receive. Furthermore, she listed herself as an organ donor as one the last actions she did in her life. Now, a person, somewhere in this world will be given the gift of sight, through Taylor's eyes. She was the person that we should all aspire to be.
She is survived by her parents, Terry and Suzi, sisters Megan, Peyton, Emily and brother-in-law Jeremy. Her aunt Katie and uncle Patrick McClain, and their children Ryan, Aidan, and Finn. Her uncle Kevin (Cubbie) McShea, and grandparents Judy and Wayne Souder, and Martha McShea.
In lieu of funeral services there will be a celebration of Taylor's life on May 4th, 2019 (May the 4th be with you Star Wars day) at 4:00 PM at Douglas Anderson School of the Arts 2445 San Diego Road, Jacksonville, FL 32207.
