Tom was one of ten children. He is survived by 5 brothers and sisters. He was born and raised in Cincinnati Ohio. He went into the service at the age of 18. He served during WWII as a photographer on the USS Arizona. He loved reading and watching historical documentaries about the war.
Tom was preceded in death by his wife, Sara Merrell. He leaves behind seven children; Karen Macke, Thomas and Lisa Macke, Daniel and Gale Macke, Rebecca and Glen Fellows, Jennifer and William Williams, Patricia and Gary Corbitt, and Michael and Ellen Beitenhaus. He had ten grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Throughout his life, he enjoyed tennis, sailing and was an avid golfer. He had a passion for automation and developed a patent for a bindery folder. In his younger years, he enjoyed flying two-seater planes and entertaining his children.
At the end of his life, he lived at Thrive Memory Care. The family is thankful for the wonderful care and compassion that the staff and volunteers showed throughout this time.
