Obituary
Lt. Col. Thomas H. Moss III (ret), 64, of Fernandina Beach, Florida, passed away on June 28 from complications of heart disease.
Tom grew up in Groton, Connecticut, and attended the University of Connecticut, earning a Bachelor's in Psychology and Sociology and Masters in Business Administration. He was a 22-year veteran of the US Air Force, including 11 years at the US Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, where he held positions as an instructor and finance officer for the Falcons' athletic department.
An avid sports fan, Tom was passionate about a diverse group of teams including the Red Sox, Lakers and Redskins. He was a golfer for most of his life. He loved cooking and specialized in BBQ recipes. He was a Rotary Club Member in Fernandina Beach. Tom loved dogs and often cared for several at time - most recently his well-behaved and loyal dog, Duchess.
He is survived by his daughter Ellen P. Conti and her husband. Tom had two grandchildren Elliott and Carter, a niece Erin Groves, his sister Donna Moss Ogle and former spouse Frances Regan Moss. He was preceded in death by his parents Thomas H. Moss Jr. and Patricia Jackson Moss.
Donations in Tom's name can be made to the Red Sox Foundation. A service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a future date.
