OBITUARY - THOMAS ALLEN POE
Thomas (Tom) Allen Poe passed away late Wednesday night, October 14th, 2015, in Jacksonville, Florida.
In honor of Tom's life, a memorial service and inurnment will be held at the Jacksonville National Cemetery on a yet to be determined date and time. The details for this event will be posted as soon as available.
Mr. Poe was born on August 4, 1928, in Sullivan, Iowa to Raymond and Lois Poe. He spent his childhood in Henderson, Kentucky and later moved to New York, Charlotte, and Jacksonville. He has resided in the Mandarin area of Jacksonville for the past 33 years with his wife Alice Poe. He served in the Army during the Korean War. His achievements and endeavors earned him the title of Kentucky Colonel, an accomplishment of which he was enormously proud. Tom enjoyed a fulfilling career as a salesman working for Dow Chemical in New York City then later developed his own business, Southern Foils Unlimited.
Tom was considered slightly eccentric by those who knew him best. He often displayed quite a sense of "joie de vivre" and enjoyed sampling the finer things in life. While sometimes misinterpreted by others, Tom had a very droll, but playful, sense of humor, maintaining a mischievous manner throughout his life. He enjoyed "serenading" anyone who would listen, as well as those who tried not to. He will be missed dearly.
Thomas Poe is survived by:
