Travis Alan Wheeler, 34, from Jacksonville FL, passed away Friday October 11, 2019 as a result of lack of oxygen to his brain following a CrossFit athletic competition. He was born April 30, 1985 in St, Petersburg FL, the son of Alan Wheeler and Tamela Ingram. He and his family moved to Palm Harbor in 1993 and then to Winter Springs in 2004. He and his farther moved to Lake Mary in 2010 where he started training in CrossFit. He met the love of his life, Sharla Green as a result and they both trained together growing in love and strength every day. The couple moved to Jacksonville where they found a new box to train and they continued to excel as a couple. Running over 30 competition, many CrossFit events, Obstacle Course Races, Mud Runs, etc. Travis's life ended doing what he loved to do. His death could/should have been avoided and I feel was not his fault.

Travis is survived by his father, Alan Wheeler and his fiance, Lynn Hackett and her son, Cody Weber, his girlfriend, Sharla Green and Travis's mother, Tamela Ingram. Sharla was more than a girlfriend to Travis, they were truly soulmates. He is also the dad to two pit bulls and a terrier that miss him as much as we do. Both sets of grandparents are morning his loss, as well as many aunts, uncles and cousins. Travis had many close friends, Sam Albright, Nick Albright, Jeremy Rice, Josh King and SO many more! He also has a World-wide "family" of CrossFitters that have come to him in prayers and support. The outpouring of support from all of these people has been overwhelming! The family can never thank them all enough!

Travis was a humble giant at the box. Although one of the top 1% athlete there, he would always stop to help others and challenge them to excel. Even in death he will be helping others by donating his tissues and corneas.
Celebrations of life for Travis will be held in both Orlando/Lake Mary and Jacksonville. Locations, dates and times to follow and will be posted on his fathers and Sharla's Facebook pages. Final arrangements have been coordinated by Naugle & Schnauss Funeral Home in Jacksonville.

Support for family has been setup in this time of need and very much appreciated. In lieu of flowers, please assist by donating to the GoFundMe page:
