Vera Lynn Bockius
February 20, 1940 — February 11, 2020
Vera Lynn Kirkland-Bockius, 79, passed away peacefully with family by her side in Jacksonville, Florida on Tuesday, February 11, 2020. She was born February 20, 1940 in Jacksonville Florida to Austin John Kirkland and Willie-Mae Redick Kirkland. Vera was a kind, loving, tenderhearted woman with a love for God, known for her outstanding intelligence and leadership. After retiring from management in the arcade industry, she went on to work for Cypress Truck Lines for many years to follow.
Vera's favorite past time was sitting in her rocking chair on the porch in Georgia listening to the sound of the trees while watching for deer.
In her last few years, she declined due to Alzheimer's and Dementia and resided in Silver Treasures assisted living facility at Lane Avenue where she was deeply loved and cared for.
Vera is survived by her daughter Debi Lynn Mosley, her son-in-law Ray Mosley, her granddaughter Taylor Capehart and husband Michael Capehart, her two brothers William Austin Kirkland and James Edwin Kirkland, her two sisters Anne K. Dedge and Mary Kirkland, and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded by father Austin John Kirkland, mother Willie-Mae Kirkland, two brothers Charles F. Kirkland and Clyde John Kirkland, nephews Rick Dedge and Daniel Kirkland, and niece Melissa Alane Smith.
Memorial service will be held on Friday, February 14th 2020 at Naugle Funeral Home, 1203 Hendricks Ave. Jacksonville, FL 32207 at 10am. Interment services by Round Tree Funeral Home will follow at North Cemetery on North Cemetery Rd. Dupont, Georgia at 2:00pm.
