VIRGIL LEE STANLEY
1954 - 2016
On the afternoon of August 29, 2016, Virgil Lee Stanley passed away at Memorial Medical Center in Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 62. Virgil was the first born child and the only son, of Jay Lee and Gearlene Key Stanley, who had four children. He was born on March 18, 1954 in North Kingstown, Rhode Island and as a military child, he had the opportunity to travel and live in many different places around the US. Through these experiences he developed a deep love for this country. He was a true patriot who put God, his family and his country first. Virgil was a graduate of Sandalwood High School in Jacksonville, FL in 1973. Virgil had an entrepreneurial spirit and was self-employed his entire life. His favorite interests included hunting, fishing and talking politics. He was always ready to make a friend wherever he went and loved to strike up conversations with people. He was open, friendly, and lived in the moment and he dedicated his time to cultivating relationships. Virgil will be deeply missed by those who were fortunate enough to have known him.
Virgil is survived by his loving son Christian Lee Stanley, of Jacksonville, FL; his three sisters Deborah “Debi” Stanley Haak, of Orange Park, FL; Denise Stanley Strong of Jacksonville, FL; and Marcia Stanley Farrell of Jacksonville, FL, as well as many nieces, nephews and cousins.
