Vivian Shanklin Dickerson

Vivian Shanklin Dickerson, 84, of Jacksonville, FL passed away November 17, 2019 after a long illness. Vivian was the third of four children born to Carl and Winnie Shanklin in Gardi.
The Wayne County Georgia native lived in Gardi until 1976 and was a member of the Gardi Baptist Church where she served as assistant pianist, Sunday School teacher, and treasurer. She worked for Southern Bell in Jesup until the office closed in 1976. She then transferred to AT&T in Panama City, FL where she could be close to her sister Elma Harper. She retired in 1990 and moved to Jacksonville, FL to be with her only son and future grandchildren born in 1990 and 1992. Her favorite pastimes were spending time with her Sunday School classmates, watching Atlanta Braves baseball, and taking care of her grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her sisters, Elma Harper of Panama City, FL and Carlene Johnson of Corpus Christi, TX.
Survivors include her son Alan Dickerson (Agnes) of Jacksonville, FL; a brother Carl Augustus Shanklin (Nina) of Gardi; and two grandchildren, Alanna Santiago (Josh) of Jacksonville, FL and Alisha Dickerson of Gainesville, FL.
