When he left Barnett, he fulfilled his lifelong dream of studying theology, graduating from Duke University Divinity School in 1994. In addition to banking and theology, Bill loved teaching, serving as faculty in various schools: American Bankers Association, Stonier School of Banking, and University of North Florida. Wherever he lived, Bill was involved with his local United Methodist Church.

Bill had a lifelong love of trains, even acquiring a red caboose for his backyard. He was an alumnus of the Leadership Jacksonville Class of 1995. Bill was a talented pianist, avid reader, and enthusiastic traveler. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather.
