William Lego

William "Bill" David Lego, 86 passed away Wednesday, October 18, 2017. Born in 1931, Bill was preceded in death by his parents William and Gertrude Lego. He is survived by his wife Rose, daughters Ellyn Evans, Palm Harbor, FL and Jan Lego, Atlanta, GA and sons William "Bill" Lego, Jacksonville, FL and David Lego (Kim), St Johns, FL. Pop-Pop is also survived by 4 loving grandchildren, Andrew Evans (Jessica) of Dunedin, Jessica Evans of St. Petersburg, Matthew Lego of St Johns and Elizabeth Lego of St Johns.
Bill attended George Washington University and Temple University. In 1955 he married the love of his life, Rose in Drexel Hill, PA. Bill and a group of co-workers made the move to Jacksonville while at Foremost Milk Company (later named FarmBest Milk Company) in 1965. He moved on to Industrial America for years as a Director of Systems and Procedures. He retired from Florida
Machine and Foundry/FMF Properties. Bill was an active member of St Johns Episcopal Cathedral. He enjoyed his time on the board as Treasurer, involvement in Jazz Vespers services, time as a Chalice Bearer, Small group member, as well as many church activities. Bill loved his time with many Cursillo teams. His love and faith were forever changed by both St Johns Episcopal Church and Cursillo. Bill enjoyed golf. He loved fishing and being on and by the ocean. He was a passionate fan of jazz music (mainly Swing, Dixieland and Bebop). Bill was a huge sports fan. He enjoyed cheering on his favorite teams. These included the Dodgers, Temple Owls and Jaguars. Cheering on the Florida Gators were among his favorite things to do. A funeral service will be held at St Johns Episcopal Cathedral, 256 East Church Street, Jacksonville, FL 32202 on Friday, October 27, 2017 at 11:00 am.
