William George Ritchie, Sr. (1925-2017)
William George Ritchie, Sr. died peacefully at home on Fleming Island, Florida after a short illness on July 6, 2017. "Bill" was born on October 3, 1925 in Ludlow, Massachusetts to his parents David McLeod Ritchie and Helen Martin Thomson. After serving in the US Navy during WWII, he graduated from Worcester Polytechnic Institute with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. He worked as a mechanical engineer for several Washington, DC area firms and resided in Fairfax, Virginia. After retirement in 1992 he and Pat moved to Topsail Beach, North Carolina where they resided for 8 years before moving to Fleming Island. Bill led an active life and enjoyed golfing, boating, fishing and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years Patricia "Pat" Ann (Clark) Ritchie, his children Bill Jr., Scott, Gail (Lesnick) and Page. Grandchildren Michael Clark Troutman, Sara (Ritchie) Curry, Laura Ann (Troutman) Murphy, David Ritchie, Sean Ritchie, Christopher Ritchie, Brian Troutman, Madeline Ritchie. Great grandchildren Kathryn Ann Murphy, Abigail Elizabeth Murphy, Olivia Ritchie, and Layla Curry. He was preceded in death by his siblings David McLeod Ritchie and Susan Ritchie.
An 11:00 AM memorial service will be held on August 9, 2017 at Fleming Island United Methodist Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Shriners Hospitals for Children < https://www.shrinershospitalsforchildren.org/donate >
