William David Snead, affectionately known as Billy or Bill, peacefully passed away at the age of 74 in Jacksonville, Florida, on Thursday, January 25, 2024. His transition to Glory occurred at the Douglas Center of Community Hospice, with his devoted wife of 43 years, Sindi, by his side.
Born on September 4, 1949, in Joplin, Missouri, to Mel C. and Eleanor G. Snead, Bill moved with his family to Jacksonville in 1957. A graduate of Englewood High School in 1967, he subsequently joined the United States Air National Guard in 1968 as an aircraft maintenance specialist. In 1976, Bill's life took a beautiful turn when he met and married the love of his life, Sindi Willis, in a heartfelt ceremony on May 17, 1980, in Hollister, Florida, in Sindi's parents' backyard. The couple welcomed their wonderful son, Houston, in 1986.
Bill had a profound passion for nature, particularly collecting driftwood. Over the years, he sought out unique pieces for carving and crafting one-of-a-kind artwork. Throughout his life, Bill dedicated himself to hard work to provide for his family.
In addition to his creative pursuits, Bill leaves behind a legacy of love and family. He is survived by his adoring wife, Sindi Snead, his cherished son, Houston Snead, as well as his sister, Melda Kirkland, brother, Bob Snead, and sister Kathie Ford. Bill is also fondly remembered by numerous nieces and nephews. Bill is preceded in death by his parents, Mel C. and Eleanor G. Snead, and his brother, Roy Allen Snead. His memory lives on through the love he shared and the impact he had on the lives of those who had the privilege of knowing him.
