William Matthew Wolny, 77, passed away Thursday, Nov. 9, 2017.
He was retired from the Jacksonville Electric Authority, where he worked for more than 20 years as a boiler operator at the JEA South side power plant. He was a graduate of Landon High School and attended the University of Florida and Jacksonville University.
Born in Brooklyn, NY, William lived most of his life in Jacksonville. As an avid sports fan, he loved rooting for the Jacksonville Jaguars and Florida Gators. He enjoyed great movies, good buffets and the antics of his two cats, Sheba and Blackjack and his dog, Bernie. He liked getting together for holiday family dinners with his siblings, nephews and their spouses.
William is survived by his sister, Denise Carney and brother-in-law Peter Carney of Jacksonville, FL; brother Michael Wolny and sister-in-law Susan O'Reilly of Longwood, FL; and nephew Peter Dale Carney and his wife, Caroline Carriere of Bradenton, FL; and nephew Matthew Carney and his wife, Kim Mansfield of St. Petersburg, FL.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, Nov. 16, 2017 from 1 p.m. until 4 p.m. at the Naugle Funeral Home at 1203 Hendricks Ave. in Jacksonville, FL. Father John Reynolds will lead a service from 2 p.m. until 3 p.m. Graveside service will be held 11am, Friday November 17, 2017 at Gethsemane Cemetery, 800 Hammond Boulevard Jacksonville Florida 32221.
